A little soul, a little go-go: DC United’s new 2025 away jersey pays tribute to the District’s music scene

The D.C. region’s Major League Soccer team is adding a little soul and funk to its new 2025 away jersey.

D.C. United’s new 2025 jersey honors District’s go-go scene

D.C. United unveiled its 2025 Soul Kit on Thursday, designed to pay homage to the District’s funk, soul and go-go music scene.

According to the club, the jersey primary color is ecru, a light grayish yellow. The kit — including the jersey, shorts and socks — features a sleek purple and blue silhouette pattern, which honors “the artists and sounds that shaped D.C.’s identity — a fusion of past and present, tradition and evolution.”

The subtle design continues throughout the jersey, including the club’s name on the back of the neck featuring a special color design and a jock tag with the D.C. cityscape. Lastly, the Apple TV logo will nod to the District’s flag pattern inside.

“This kit is more than just a uniform — it’s a statement of identity, culture, and pride,” president of business operations Danita Johnson said in a statement.

“D.C. has always been a place of resilience and artistic expression, and this design captures the energy of the city in a way that fans and players alike can embrace.”

The jersey will be replacing its previous cherry blossom-inspired away uniforms, which instantly became a fan favorite.

Fans can purchase the 2025 Soul Kit at the Club Shop at Audi Field and online at the MLS Store’s website.
