Matt About Town: Celebrate Women’s History month at this memorial inside Arlington National Cemetery

Throughout the month of March, WTOP is celebrating Women’s History Month.

Honoring women's military service at Arlington's Military Women's Memorial

In today’s episode of “Matt About Town,” WTOP’s Matt Kaufax takes us to Arlington National Cemetery to explore a lesser-known and fascinating monument: the Military Women’s Memorial.

Established in 1997, the Military Women’s Memorial is the only historical repository of its kind in the world, honoring the 3 million women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces dating all the way back to the American Revolution.

And it’s more than just a physical memorial that you can see from the Arlington Memorial Bridge.

Check out Matt’s video, and explore the inside of the 220-foot space behind the memorial, carefully crafted with authentic memorabilia from all conflicts and eras where women have done their part — and more.

“Matt About Town” airs every Tuesday and Thursday on WTOP, and runs throughout the rest of the day on 103.5 FM. His video pieces are always posted on WTOP.com.
