The first Red Bull Showrun D.C. event took over Pennsylvania Avenue on Saturday, offering a taste of Formula 1 racing and other high-energy motorsports.

Crowds of car enthusiasts, or even the race car curious, filled the sidewalks as the event brought in legendary driver David Coulthard and the team at Oracle Red Bull to show off some muscle and speed in the heart of the nation’s capital.

“I cannot deny, it was a thrill,” Coulthard, who drove Red Bull’s RB7 Formula One race car, said. “I take it as a great responsibility to come put on a show.”

Crowds turned out en masse to watch the four-block show. Holding smartphone cameras above their heads, people tried to capture the cars’ powerful engines roaring down the D.C. road.
