911 service restored in Fairfax County after brief outage

WASHINGTON — The 911 service for Cox Communications customers has been restored in Fairfax County, the company said, after a brief outage Friday.

Around 1:20 p.m., Fairfax County alerted its residents that a Cox service interruption occurred in the area near Georgetown Pike and Bellview Road, resulting in some disruptions in Cox phone service and issues reaching 911. There were no issues with Fairfax County 911 functions, the county said.

Telephone service, including 911, was restored for impacted customers a short time later, said Cox spokeswoman Margaret-Hunter Wade.
