1 killed, 2 hospitalized in Charles Co. crash

WASHINGTON — One man was killed and two other people were injured in a crash on Maryland Route 228 in Charles County early Sunday morning.

Maryland State Police said the crash happened just after 1 a.m. when a 2008 Cadillac Escalade heading eastbound on the road crashed into a 2012 Volkswagen Passat that was stopped on the side of the road.

The Volkswagen had its emergency flashers on before the crash, police said.

The passenger in the front seat of the Volkswagen was killed in the crash. He was identified as 24-year-old Kevin Cox of Brandywine, Maryland.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 24-year-old Breanna Rodgers of Waldorf, Maryland, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Sammie Davis, 43, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was identified as the driver of the Escalade. He was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Police ask anyone with information to call 301-392-1200, as the crash is still under investigation by the CRASH team.
