First ‘Taste of Springfield’ this month

WASHINGTON — Springfield, Virginia, gets its own “taste of” event, with the inaugural Taste of Springfield Saturday, July 29.

The Taste of Springfield will take place at Springfield Town Center.

Taste of Springfield will highlight restaurants and food vendors from around the greater Springfield area, including popular establishments, such as Dixie Bones BBQ, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Cakes by Shelby.

A total of 18 restaurants and food vendors are currently listed as participants on the event’s website.

The food festival will also include live music and other family-friendly outdoor events.

Taste of Springfield will run from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Town Center parking lot along Frontier Drive, outside of Saks Off 5th and Nordstrom Rack.

The event is free, though food tasting tickets are $1 each.

The 44-year-old Springfield Mall underwent a $250 million renovation three years ago and reopened as Springfield Town Center in late 2014.
