Jose Andres opens Verizon Center pop-up

WASHINGTON — The Verizon Center now boasts a two-star Michelin chef: Chef Jose Andres has signed a deal with the arena’s concession operator, Aramark, for a pop-up, called Launch Test Kitchen.

The venue had a soft debut Oct. 15.

“The Verizon Center has long been the centerpiece of our Penn Quarter neighborhood, home to many of my D.C. restaurants, so I’m thrilled to be able to share some of our concepts, via Aramark, with the fans of my beloved Wizards and Caps and all those who come to Verizon Center this fall and winter,” Andres said.

Fare from three of Andres’ restaurants will rotate through Launch Test Kitchen, starting with his vegetarian-centric Beefsteak, which has entrees priced between $6 and $12.

Andres’ food will be featured at the pop-up during the entire 2016-2017 Capitals and Wizards season.

The Launch Test Kitchen is located on Verizon Center’s main concourse by section 105.
