Neal Augenstein has been a general assignment reporter with WTOP since 1997. He says he looks forward to coming to work every day, even though that means waking up at 3:30 a.m.

On any given day, he may be covering breaking news, an ongoing trial, or a fun feature that resonates with listeners and readers.

In November 2022, Neal was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and began sharing his journey in hopes of raising awareness.
