John started working at WTOP in 2016 after having grown up in Maryland listening to the station as a child. While he got his on-air start at small stations in Pennsylvania and Delaware, he’s spent most of his career in the D.C. area, having been heard on several local stations before coming to WTOP.
At WTOP, John has covered nearly every kind of story imaginable around the region. He was the first reporter on the air live from the Navy Yard during the 2013 mass shooting, reported on the Pope’s visit to D.C. and the Super Bowl. He has twice been named Best Reporter by the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
When he’s not chasing stories, he can often be found chasing his kids around their different activities. He is always on the lookout for good seafood, good BBQ and any Maryland Terrapins win. John has raised thousands of dollars for the National MS Society by participating in the annual Bike MS: Nation’s Capital.
John is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
