John Domen

Reporter/Anchor

John started working at WTOP in 2016 after having grown up in Maryland listening to the station as a child. While he got his on-air start at small stations in Pennsylvania and Delaware, he’s spent most of his career in the D.C. area, having been heard on several local stations before coming to WTOP.

He’s covered a wide variety of stories over the years. John was the first reporter on the air live from the Navy Yard during the 2013 mass shooting there, and has covered everything from the Pope’s visit to D.C. to the Super Bowl. At WTOP he’s sort of a jack of all trades, working both inside the newsroom and at the scene of breaking news.

When he’s not on the clock, John is usually looking for a beach to relax on or a ballgame to watch. The University of Maryland grad is a diehard Terps fan and is old enough to remember when there were no Washington Nationals. So that means he’s an Orioles fan too. He lives in Bowie, not far from where he grew up.
