After exercise, a fast-food refill might work out

WASHINGTON – It might seem like the best place to get your post-workout food would be the health-food store, but a new study suggests that Stopping at McDonald’s might do the trick as well.

The study published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism tested men who were sometimes given regular sports supplements and sometimes fast-food items after they worked out.

It turned out the cheap fast food worked as well as the health-food diet when it came to restoring muscle glycogen.

The abstract concluded that good post-exercise food “can include dietary options not typically marketed as sports nutrition products such as fast food menu items.”
