WASHINGTON — Have you heard about the possibility of snow on Monday into Tuesday? Yes, we here at StormTeam4 have, too. So I want to go ahead and let you in on what we know so far as we are about 48 hours out from any precipitation falling in our region.
First thing is first: We are watching a system that is still well northwest of our region, moving out of Canada.
The system will dive through the Northern Plains into Monday, passing through the Ohio Valley and our area by Monday night. Eventually, it will transfer off the coast as a developing coastal low by Tuesday night. It will continue to move to the east — northeast out to sea through Wednesday as winds pick up in our area. High pressure will build in after that bringing some very chilly air to the region to finish out our next work week.
This system is really not impressive at this time. It does look like we could get a few inches of the wet stuff on Monday night into Tuesday but I want to stress that this is nothing like the Blizzard of 2016.

There may be impacts to travel perhaps on Monday night through Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday morning because there could be a few snow showers that linger.

Wednesday and Thursday will be very breezy. In fact, wind chills will most likely be in the teens and 20s, so be prepared for that kind of cold air. We are not tracking any other storm systems as we continue into next weekend, so keep it at WTOP and NBC4 through the weekend as we continue to nail down the details to this system for Monday night and Tuesday.
