Nats’ Strasburg put on 10-day DL

WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals placed starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 10-day disabled list Thursday.

Strasburg, 30, is suffering from “cervical nerve impingement” — a pinched nerve in the neck.

Pain can travel to the shoulder and down the arm to the hand.

The placement is retroactive to July 22.

Nationals president and GM Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Strasburg is 6-7 with a 3.90 ERA while striking out 101 and walking 21 batters across 14 starts this season.

In response to Strasburg being shunted to the DL, the Nats have activated left-hander Tommy Milone and designated infielder Jose Marmolejos.

Milone, 31, is 7-4 with a 4.19 ERA in 20 starts for Triple-A Syracuse, Washington’s minor league club.

Marmolejos, 25, is batting .256 with 20 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 37 RBI and 37 runs scored in 94 games for Syracuse.
