PHOTOS: Washington Capitals’ 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs run

Last year’s Stanley Cup Champions the Washington Capitals are hoping for a repeat in 2019.

In the first round, they faced the Carolina Hurricanes and came out on top 4-2. In the second round, Brooks Orpik scored the game-wining goal in overtime, to take Game 2 at 4-3.

The Caps faced the Canes for Game 3 on April 15 and suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat.

They looked to redeem themselves in Game 4 on April 18, but was again foiled, losing to Caroline 2-1, and losing forward T.J. Oshie in the process due to an injury.

The Caps came back with a vengeance in Game 5 on April 20, shutting out the Canes 6-0, as fans chanted the injured Oshie’s name.

But Monday, April 22, in a first-round series where neither team has won on the road, the Carolina Hurricanes fought to keep their season alive with a 5-2 win over the Capitals in Game 6.
