WASHINGTON — If it was a something of an open secret up until Thursday night, it wasn’t anymore by the time the Caps hoisted the Stanley Cup: Alex and Nastya Ovechkin are expecting their first child.
When prompted during a postgame SportsNet interview, Ovechkin declined to discuss the particulars.
“It’s unbelievable,” he said. “I’m just happy, you know?”
Nastya also posted a photo to Instagram of the couple with the Stanley Cup with the caption “We did it,” in Russian.
The Capitals defeated the Las Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final to win the franchise’s first-ever championship. They are expected back in Washington Friday afternoon, with a parade coming sometime next week.
