WASHINGTON — Reality TV is returning to the nation’s capital — or at least one of its very wealthy suburbs.
Bravo announced Wednesday that its new series in the popular “Real Housewives” franchise will be “The Real Housewives of Potomac.” The show, featuring the drama of women and their families in the Montgomery County town, will debut in January.
The show will follow Ashley Darby, Christine Jackson Jordan, Karen Huger, Katie Rost, Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon as they navigate the social circles of Potomac, Maryland.
Dixon is the ex-wife of former NBA star Juan Dixon, and former head of National Basketball Wives Association. Bryant is the ex-wife of the popular Baltimore pastor, Jamal Harrison Bryant.
Bravo’s bios of the other women say Darby is a restaurateur, Jordan is a “social butterfly,” Huger is a “grand dame” and Rost is an international model and TV personality.
“If you haven’t heard of Potomac, that’s fine, because that means we’ve done a great job of keeping it a nice, little secret,” Gizelle Bryant says in the trailer for the show, which often showcases the opulent lifestyles of its subjects.
The median household income in Potomac is more than $178,000, according to U.S. Census data collected between 2009 and 2013.
This isn’t the first time women of the D.C. area have been featured on the franchise. “The Real Housewives of D.C.” aired in 2010.
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” premieres Jan. 17 at 9/8c.
Bravo is also working on a Real Housewives of Dallas, which will debut later in 2016.
