Va. police officer pranks driver during traffic stop (Video)

WASHINGTON — A woman anxiously lowers the car window as a police officer approached her vehicle but soon, her worried look was replaced by an eruption of laughter.

Halifax police officer Brian Warner pulled over a female driver and asked the driver if she knew why she was pulled over.

“Are you familiar with vehicle code 1.7.3.9?” Warner could be heard asking the driver.

Without waiting for an answer, the officer told the driver that it was illegal to drive on a hot day without an ice cream cone. He then handed the woman and her passenger two ice cream cones as the driver and the passenger burst out laughing.

The driver wished the officers a “wonderful, blessed day.”

Halifax Police Chief Kevin Lands told WTVR that he “wanted to try and put some smiles on people’s faces.” In a Facebook post on July 29, he said Halifax police handed out 16 ice cream cones to drivers.
