WASHINGTON – An Academy Award-winning film created by two local filmmakers will be shown Thursday night at the Avalon Theatre in D.C.
The film “Inocente,” by Sean and Andrea Nix Fine of Chevy Chase, Md., won the Oscar for “Best Documentary Short.” The movie focuses on the life of Inocente Izucar, a homeless teenage immigrant who struggles to achieve her dream of becoming an artist.
WTOP Film Critic Jason Fraley will host screenings at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Each screening will be followed by a question and answer session.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. All profits from the screenings will benefit the charity A Reason To Survive, which supports arts programs that empower young people.
