WASHINGTON – Tired of attack ads and heated politics?
Here’s a chance to laugh about it with a celebrity in our own backyard.
Actor/comedian Pauly Shore is taping his upcoming Showtime special “Pauly-tics” Saturday night at the 9:30 Club in Northwest D.C.
The show will feature Shore’s latest stand-up routine, as well as skits with political guests like Barney Frank, Ralph Nader and Michael Steele.
However, Shore insists the message isn’t partisan.
“It’s fun and crazy,” Shore said. “There’s no Republican or Democrat side. Everyone’s having a good time. We’re just kinda having fun, but all of the subjects just happen to be political subjects.”
With the political subject matter, Shore says it was crucial to tape the show in our nation’s capital.
“You have to have the backdrop of D.C. for sure,” he said. “You couldn’t have it any other way.”
Other comedians will include Godfrey from “Louie”, Rachel Feinstein from Comedy Central and Vidur Kapur from “Stand Up for Diversity.” A member of the Pussycat Dolls will also be there dancing.
Shore gained fame as host of MTV’s “Totally Pauly” (1990) before starring in movie comedies like “Encino Man” (1992), “Son in Law” (1993), “In the Army Now” (1994) and “Biodome” (1996).
The special airs on Showtime in October or November, but Shore filled me in on a secret about getting free tickets.
