WASHINGTON — Tuesday is graduation day for seniors of Battlefield High School in Prince William County, Virginia, but four students won’t be attending after police arrested and charged the group in connection with a disturbing crime.

The four are charged with destruction of property and conspiracy to commit a felon. The students — Jordan Pumphrey, 18, of Haymarket; Ramon Romero Serpas, 18, of Woodbridge; Bryant Schaible of Haymarket; and Jared Yusko, 19, of Gainesville are being held in police custody on $2,000 bond.

On May 29, students and staff arrived to find obscene images and language spray painted on the football field and bleachers, as well as parts of a dismembered roadkill raccoon strewed around the grounds, according to Officer Nathan Probus with the Prince William County Police Department.

In a letter to parents, Principal Ryan Ferrera offered a reward to students with information about those responsible.

The principal added that in addition to disciplinary action, the students would not walk at graduation if they were seniors.

“It is possible that this was intended to be a senior prank,” Ferrera wrote. “However, causing damage to the school property used by our students and staff is not funny, and will not be tolerated.”
