Teacher confessed to sex abuse at Va. day care: police document

MANASSAS, Va. — An assistant teacher at a Bristow, Virginia, day care confessed to inappropriately touching at least one of five victims several times, according to a Prince William County police detective.

According to charging documents against 27-year-old Taylor Keith Boykin, filed by a special victims detective with the county police department, “Mr. Boykin admitted to pulling down (a victim’s) pants and underwear,” and touched her inappropriately, “on multiple occasions.”

Boykin, an assistant teacher at Minnieland Academy, currently faces 12 counts, involving four female victims, all 5 years old: Four counts of aggravated sexual battery, four counts of object sexual penetration and four counts of indecent liberties by a custodian.

Asked if Boykin has continued to cooperate with police, Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok declined to elaborate, citing the ongoing investigation.

“Obviously, there’s a possibility there are more victims,” said Perok. “We’d encourage any parent to sit down with their children who may have attended the center, and unfortunately, have a very serious conversation with their child.”

In addition to the criminal investigation, the commonwealth is investigating two aspects of the case.

“I can confirm the Virginia Department of Social Services is conducting a (Child Protective Services) investigation as a result of this incident,” said Cletisha Lovelace, of the DSS. “Additionally, our child licensing division has also initiated an investigation.”

Boykin is being held without bond until a Monday bond hearing.
