Homeless arsonist in Va. arrested, charged

WASHINGTON — A homeless woman was arrested Friday after setting another homeless person’s belongings on fire and for threatening to kill them, the Prince William County Fire Marshal Office said.

Shavonia Eafford, 21, of no fixed address, was charged with burning or destroying personal property by fire and attempted malicious bodily injury by means of a caustic substance.

The fire marshal’s office had received a complaint about tents and other personal belongings of homeless members in Manassas, Virginia, being set on fire.

The homeless camp is near the Sudley Road and Lomond Drive area of Manassas.

Through an interview with a witness, whose belonging were burned, the fire marshal learned that the suspect in the case had also had threatened to kill the witness.

Eafford is being held on $3,000 bond at the county’s regional jail.
