Police: Teens found dead in minivan died of stab wounds

UPDATE 11:41 a.m. 12/28/2015: The Prince William County police say the deaths of Lyle Ferringer and Indya Davis comprise a murder-suicide.

EARLIER: WASHINGTON — Police in Prince William County, Virginia, say two teens who were found dead in a minivan over the weekend died from stab wounds.

Officers were called to the 4400 block of Hamilton Drive, near Dawson Park, around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, where the Indya Davis and Lyle Ferringer — both 17 years old — were found.

Police say that as officers were checking the minivan — which belongs to the family of one of the teens — Davis and Ferringer were seen in the back compartment, unresponsive and with injuries.

Officers forced their way into the minivan and called for medical help, but the teens were pronounced dead on the scene.

On Monday, police said autopsy results showed that the teens’ deaths were related to stab wounds. Davis’ death was ruled a suicide, but Ferringer’s manner of death is still pending further investigation and toxicology results, police say.

Earlier in the day, police said both teens had been reported missing separately by family members.

Police say the investigation into the deaths continues.
