Police ID man struck by 2 cars in fatal Prince George’s Co. crash

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the man who was struck by two cars in a fatal crash Thursday night in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Serge Deumeni, 40, of Bowie, was the pedestrian struck around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Adelphi area, Prince George’s County police said. He was found dead at the scene, in the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Metzerott Road, according to police.

Police also said Deumeni was trying to cross New Hampshire Avenue when he was hit by the first car. Prince George’s County police spokesman Cpl. Tyler Hunter said that the first driver who struck the man stayed on the scene, but in a matter of seconds, a second car struck the victim.

The second driver did not stop, but police said the driver may not have realized that they had struck the victim, who was already on the ground from the initial strike.

Police did not mention the identity of the first driver, and they are still working to identify the second driver.

Below is a map of where the crash happened.
