Police: Driver intentionally hit armed man in Pr. George’s Co. parking lot

WASHINGTON — A driver intentionally struck an armed 21-year-old man at an Upper Marlboro shopping center Monday morning, Prince George’s County police said. The man later died.

Around 8:30 a.m., a driver hit Nathaniel McKinnon, 21, in the parking lot of the Marlborough Village shopping center. McKinnon was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found the driver, whose name has not been released, intentionally hit McKinnon, police said Tuesday. Officers found an assault rifle, an AK-47, on McKinnon, and officers are looking into if the driver hit him in an act of self-defense.

The driver knew the victim, who was his daughter’s boyfriend, sources told WTOP’s broadcast news partners at NBC Washington.

Detectives are consulting with the State’s Attorney’s Office on any potential charges in the case.

Anyone with information about the case can call police at 301-772-4925.
