Police ID victim in Prince George’s County homicide

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the man who died in a Prince George’s County earlier this week.

Around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, police received a report of an assault in Landover Hills, near Annapolis Road and Cooper Lane. They found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, police identified the victim as 46-year-old Carlos Earl Clayton of Landover Hills.

Police are asking anyone with information about the homicide to call 1-866-411-TIPS.

Clayton’s death was one of two in a five-hour period in Prince George’s County Wednesday.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the 6800 block of Jade Court in Capitol Heights for a report of shots fired. Police found a woman and two men with gunshot wounds.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were taken to the hospital and were in critical condition. Police have not released any additional details about the Capitol Heights homicide.

Police say they do not think the two homicides are connected.
