2 killed within hours in Prince George’s Co.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — The Prince George’s County police are investigating two separate homicides that occurred within five hours Wednesday morning.

“It’s safe to say that we do not believe these two are connected,” Officer Harry Bond says.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the 6800 block of Jade Court in Capitol Heights for a report of shots fired. Police found a woman and two men with gunshot wounds.

Bond says one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were taken to the hospital and were in critical condition.

Around 5:15 a.m., police received a report of an assault in Hyattsville, near Annapolis Road and Cooper Lane. They found a man with trauma to the body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Bond says.

No arrests have been made, and both cases remain under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to step forward.

“Most cases are solved with the help of the community,” Bond says. “If you saw anything, please say something.”

The police ask you to call them at 301-772-4925, or anonymously to Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). You can also text “PGPD” to CRIMES (274637).
