Entertainment-industry celebrities are escalating their attacks on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, with several labeling him dangerous to the country and the world.
Two dozen celebrities have provided interviews for a new video that features many anti-Trump comments and urges Americans to vote in the election Nov. 8. It’s sponsored by Save the Day, a political action committee backing Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Among the celebrities in the video are actors Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Neil Patrick Harris, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Martin Sheen.

Cheadle is shown warning that Trump (without mentioning his name) is a “racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.” Sheen says, “We cannot pretend both sides are equally unfavorable.” Several celebrities say Trump can’t be trusted with nuclear weapons.
Director Joss Whedon, who founded the PAC to help defeat Trump, said he understands that many Americans don’t care what celebrities think. But he told the Hollywood Reporter that their work “makes people stop…Those are the ways you can get to people.”
Whedon said he has donated $1 million to the PAC and plans to release up to 25 more videos before Election Day, according to the Reporter.
In addition, cast members of “West Wing,” a hit TV show about a fictionalized White House that went off the air a decade ago, plan to campaign for Clinton in the battleground state of Ohio this weekend, according to Politico. Among them: Allison Janney, who played press secretary C.J. Cregg? Bradley Whitford, who played presidential adviser Josh Lyman? Richard Schiff, who played adviser Toby Ziegler, and Dule Hill, cast as aide Charlie Young.

They are scheduled to appear for Clinton in cities including Cleveland, Columbus, Sandusky and Toledo.
“West Wing” had a strong following among young people and others who were attracted to the idealism portrayed on the show week after week. The theory is that the cast members can motivate young people and other fans of the show to vote for Clinton and against Trump.
