Williams scores 21, Drexel beats Monmouth 78-74

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Amari Williams’ 21 points helped Drexel defeat Monmouth 78-74 on Thursday night.

Williams added 11 rebounds for the Dragons (13-6, 6-0 Coastal Athletic Association). Mate Okros was 2-of-5 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 12 for 12 from the line to add 17 points. Kobe Magee was 5-of-10 shooting (2 for 5 from 3-point range) to finish with 12 points. It was the sixth victory in a row for the Dragons.

Xander Rice finished with 27 points for the Hawks (9-9, 2-3). Monmouth also got nine points from Jack Collins. Jaret Valencia also had nine points.

Williams scored six points in the first half and Drexel went into the break trailing 38-33. Williams’ 15-point second half helped Drexel finish off the four-point victory.
