Pizza delivery driver killed in Burtonsville

WASHINGTON — A pizza delivery driver was killed in Burtonsville, Maryland, Monday night.

Detectives with Montgomery County police are investigating the death of Francesco Michael Digiovanni, 45, of Rockville, Maryland, as a homicide.

The Emergency Communications Center received multiple calls reporting the sound of shots fired in the area of Aldora Circle at 11:14 p.m.

Responding officers said they located a man who had trauma to his body inside a vehicle on nearby Ballinger Drive at Autumn Glen Circle, according to a news release from Montgomery County Police Department.

Officers and fire and rescue personnel tried to save his life but he died at the scene, police said.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of Digiovanni’s death.
