Man critically injured after falling from tree in Montgomery Co.

WASHINGTON — A man was seriously hurt Saturday morning while trying to climb a tree in Bethesda after he fell below street level, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer.

The man fell from a tree near River Road and Landy Lane about 30 to 35 feet into a ravine, Piringer said.

Crews were able to get to him and were continuing efforts to remove him from the ravine to transport him to get medical treatment.

Piringer says the man was critically injured with at least a broken leg but that his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
