10-year-old nearly drowns at Md. swim school

WASHINGTON — A 10-year-old boy was rescued Saturday at a swim school in Rockville after officials say he nearly drowned.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials said a lifeguard found the child and pulled him from the water at Kids First Swim School in the 15100 block of Frederick Road. The lifeguard performed CPR, and officials said the child was resuscitated.

Officials said said the boy was conscious when crews arrived around 3 p.m.

He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. Officials said he will be transported to Children’s National Medical Center in D.C.
