WASHINGTON — Several construction workers are being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after they were exposed at a site in Rockville, Maryland, Monday afternoon.
Eleven male construction workers were exposed to carbon monoxide at a site located at 14935 Southlawn Ln. in Rockville.
Montgomery County Fire & Rescue received a call for a sick worker around 2:30 p.m. Monday at the site. The worker appeared to be suffering from heat exhaustion.
When medical crews arrived, they found that the construction site has high levels of carbon monoxide.
Emergency crews transported the construction workers to area hospitals. Some are in serious, but not-life-threatening condition, says Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer.
The building has been evacuated and ventilated, Piringer says, adding that carbon monoxide levels are near normal as of 5:10 p.m.
Officials have not released any additional details at this time.
