WASHINGTON — A Germantown special education teacher’s aide is facing felony drug charges.
ABC7 reports that Casey Johnson, 32, of Hyattsville, was pulled over Jan. 9 near Century Boulevard and Middlebrook Road.
The Montgomery County police say that Johnson and her friend, Anthony Haqq, 28, of Silver Spring, were fidgeting and reaching around in the car as they came to a stop. The report says that Johnson was so nervous that the pulse in her neck was visible, ABC7 says.
The police called for a K9 unit, and soon the dog found marijuana, a scale, coffee grounds and orange peels (supposedly used to mask the smell of pot), ABC7 reports. They also found $544 in cash on her.
ABC7 says Johnson has worked as a part-time special education aide at Clopper Mill Elementary School for five years.
Montgomery County Public Schools Spokesman Dana Tofig told ABC7 that parents would have been briefed had it happened on school property. When police arrested Johnson, she was not on the school’s campus. Also, Tofig says Johnson has been on medical leave since October.
