WASHINGTON — Maryland political candidates are scrambling to meet fundraising deadlines, but voters have a deadline of their own to keep in mind: June 5.
Voters who want to change their party affiliation or have a change of address will want to update their registration by June 5 at 9 p.m.
Any voter who wants to request an alternate polling place must also meet that June 5 deadline.
Any resident who is eligible to vote but hasn’t registered yet faces the same date to sign up. That includes 17-year-olds who will be 18 by the time of the general election on Nov. 6.
You can register online as long as you have a Maryland driver’s license or an ID issued by the Motor Vehicle Administration.
You can also check the status of your registration online.
Maryland’s primary election is June 26.
On the ballot are races for the Democratic candidates challenging Republican Gov. Larry Hogan; all eight U.S. House seats; the Senate seat currently held by Ben Cardin, who’s facing a challenge from seven other Democrats, including Chelsea Manning; and several local races.
