Class is in session: Here’s when kids in the DC area head back to school

WASHINGTON — All good things must come to an end, and so it is with summer break.

It might seem hard to believe, especially for kids, but the start of the school year is just around the corner.

Below is a list of the first day of school in each system in the area. The links go to each system’s full school-year calendar.


D.C.Aug. 21 for traditional year schools (Aug. 8 for Roosevelt Stay High School and Luke C. MoreAug. 14 for all extended year elementary and middle schools)
