Glenn Ivey formally announces Congressional run

WASHINGTON — The race to succeed Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-Md.) has become a little more crowded.

On Saturday, former Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey formally announced that he’s running for the 4th congressional seat, which includes  portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties in Maryland.

“I wouldn’t trade places with anybody right now,” Ivey said. “We feel like we’re doing great on the fundraising. In fact, we won the first two quarters. The grassroots support is strong, as you can see.”

The Washington Post reports that Ivey has reported $400,000 in contributions.

Several others are running for Edwards’s seat, including former Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown.

Rep. Edwards holds the seat now, but she decided to run for the U.S. Senate after the retirement of Sen. Barbara Mikulski.
