Wizards’ development league is a go-go

WASHINGTON — The Washington Wizards’ NBA G League is the Capital City Go-Go. G league is the NBA’s developmental league.

The team will begin playing at the start of the 2018-2019 season.

The name is a nod to D.C. music history. Go-go, a subgenre of funk, originated in the nation’s capital. The team’s primary and secondary logos feature elements of D.C. basketball and music scenes.

The Go-Go will be owned and operated by Washington Wizards owner Monumental Sports & Entertainment. They will play at a new venue set to open in 2018 on the campus of the former St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Southeast.
