D.C. joined the rest of the country Tuesday to mark one year since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis Police custody.
People gathered at Lafayette Park outside of the White House with candles and signs of support.
Floyd’s family met with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House earlier in the day to commemorate their loss and push for police misconduct legislation. Afterwards, the family went to Black Lives Matter Plaza — which sported repaved yellow paint — and spoke to reporters.
