2021 Pets of the Week: Where are they now?

The weird, often-frustrating year that was 2021 is almost in the rear-view mirror. And while many of us probably want 2021 to be erased from our collective memory along with 2020, this year was life-altering for a lot of good dogs who found their forever homes after being featured on WTOP’s Pet of the Week segment.

Here’s a look back at the pets featured on-air and online this year — and what they’re up to now. Note: A couple of them would love a new home for the holidays!

Leon is still available for adoption!

He has great house manners, loves to nap and play outside, and is housebroken. He also enjoys saying hi to other dogs when he’s out on a walk.

Leon is looking for a family that enjoys long walks (and long naps on the couch).

Sasha is still available for adoption!

She’s a champion car rider, loves toys full of treats and enjoys spending time with her favorite people.

Dupree is still available for adoption!

This silly, sweet 2-year-old is super-smart and a quick learner, and he’s ready to run and play all day.

Senior pups Bailey and Lola stole the hearts of Humane Rescue Alliance staffers and WTOP listeners.

They also stole the heart of their adopter who took them home — together — to spend their golden years in College Park, Maryland.

Blinko is still available for adoption!

She was found as a stray in D.C. in rough shape and had to have one of her back legs amputated, but she isn’t letting that slow her down at all.

Thanks to the medical team at the Humane Rescue Alliance, Blinko is feeling much better and ready to find the loving home she deserves.

 

Cappuccino was adopted just in time for the holiday by a family in Northwest D.C.

This sweet 10-year-old pup came to the Humane Rescue Alliance shy and nervous. But thanks to HRA’s behavior team, he was able to work on his confidence and now has a family that adores him.

Starr is still available for adoption!

She came to the Humane Rescue Alliance after losing her owner. She’s a super-sweet 12-year-old pup who is still looking for someone who will love her as much as her previous owner did.

In the meantime, she’s been enjoying life with her HRA foster family.

Sheena is still available for adoption!

At just 2 years old, Sheena is the life of the party. She has been working hard with HRA’s behavior team on her manners, and has been having a blast with training.

When Saturn first came to the Humane Rescue Alliance, she was shy and nervous. But with some patience and confidence building, she was ready when she finally met her new best buddy.

She found a loving home in Temple Hills, Maryland, a few weeks after her WTOP segment.

Petite 15-year-old Snoop was looking for a quiet, loving retirement home — and he found it with his new family in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Seventy-pound Coco found a home with a cat and human siblings, and she is loving life with her new family in Maryland.

After two months in HRA’s care, Art finally found his family, and the sweet senior pup now lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.

It didn’t take long for Gigi to find a new home: She went home to Northwest D.C. just one day after her WTOP segment.

Remy is still available for adoption!

His foster family says he is the sweetest senior pup. He loves to play with his toys, but is happiest staying at home doing his favorite thing: napping in laps.

Rufus was adopted after nearly a month in HRA’s care.

This goofy, enthusiastic, 106-pound pup is still a sweetheart and loving life with his new family in Bowie, Maryland.

Rosie’s floppy ears, sweet face and kind eyes quickly captured the heart of her new mom.

She joined a family with two feline siblings, and she’s developed a special friendship with one of them. Their relationship and funny hijinks will be featured soon on The Dodo.

Just a few days after his WTOP debut, Joey found a loving home with a family in Maryland. He is enjoying his days being the true couch potato that he is.

The 15-year-old puggle duo of Mia and Bode charmed all those who met them during their time at HRA.

They are now happily spending their golden years with a family in D.C.

After waiting over 600 days to find a home, Delfina finally joined a loving family just in time for the holidays.

Maple’s million-dollar-smile and goofy, playful personality quickly won over his adopter.

He is now enjoying life in Maryland and is getting spoiled.

Axel is living his best life in Fairfax, Virginia, with his older canine sister.

Dutchess was a bit wary of new people when she came to HRA.

But she worked hard with the behavior and training team to build up her confidence, and she is now thriving in her new home.

After two months in HRA’s care, Winnie is now spending her days napping alongside her feline sibling.

She’s also chasing tennis balls and showing off her adorable head-tilt for the camera.

Riley came to HRA from a transport partner in Mississippi.

He quickly became a favorite there for his sweet personality, love of naps and desire to always be at someone’s side.

Riley is now enjoying life with his adopter and canine sibling in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Coco — who came from a transport partner in Texas — is one smart pup, and he loves showing off all his tricks to his new family.

Bandit is loving life with his new family, who take him out exploring the streets of D.C. with his canine sibling.

Ella came to HRA as a stray. The sweet senior went into foster care, and the family quickly “foster-failed” — and fell in love with her.

After a few months in foster care, 10-year-old Kingston was adopted, and the apple-loving pup is now enjoying life with his new family.

Two-year-old Gonzo — who is intelligent and full of enthusiasm — finally found a new home to call his own in Maryland.

Three-year-old Totten was brought to the Humane Rescue Alliance by an animal control officer after being found alone and underweight.

Thanks to HRA he is now healthy, and has a wonderful home in Arlington, Virginia.

After doing well in foster care, sweet and playful Betty found a new home where she can cuddle and play fetch.

Toby, a 12-year-old senior, came to HRA almost completely blind, but he never let it slow him down.

Now, he’s spending his retirement years in a loving home in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Jean Claude was adopted, and now the high-energy, happy sweetheart is living his best life in West Virginia.

Polo was quickly adopted, and now the playful cuddler is enjoying life with his new family in D.C.

Dover was just 6 months old when he was featured as WTOP’s Pet of the Week.

Since then, Dover has found a wonderful new home in D.C. and has already celebrated his first birthday.

It took a while, but Seven was finally adopted in February. He is now enjoying life with his new family in D.C.

Three-year-old Belladonna came to the Humane Rescue Alliance through a local transport.

After a month in its care, she was adopted and is now living with her new family in D.C.

Big-hearted Tiny now resides in Arlington, Virginia, with her new family.

Princess, a 12-year-old senior, was ready for her next adventure when she was featured on WTOP.

Now, she is spending her golden years with her new family in West Virginia.

Bradley’s new family says he is happy and settled in well at his new home in Northeast D.C.
