90 years of Martin’s Tavern: Staple Georgetown bar celebrates important milestone

An iconic D.C. bar is celebrating a monumental milestone this fall.

Martin’s Tavern, located on Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown, has been a staple neighborhood bar in the District for 90 years.

Opened in 1933, the bar has been owned by the same family for generations, and has had the pleasure of serving countless presidents, lawmakers, athletes, celebrities and regulars — some of whom have been coming for decades.

From Oct. 2-5, Martin’s plans to roll its menu prices back to 1933, as a way to celebrate and say thank you to the community that has kept it going for nearly a century.

WTOP’s Matt Kaufax went out to Martin’s, where he says he found out the secret ingredient to an award-winning cocktail, and 90 years of good business, is love.

Check out photos from Matt’s visit below.
