Car Review: Polestar 3, the electric SUV ready to zoom down Abbey Road

If you’re in the market for an electric SUV, the Polestar 3 might catch your attention. This sleek and minimalist vehicle offers a unique driving experience, blending luxury and technology.

The Polestar 3 is a five-seat electric SUV, designed with a low roofline and wide stance to give it an athletic look. Polestar puts it up against the likes of the BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron, among other builds.

The Polestar 3’s interior is hard to overlook. You won’t find many buttons in here; in fact, there’s just one on the center console. That button serves multiple functions, allowing you to play and pause music and adjust the volume.

I controlled most things, including opening the trunk and glove box, via the large center LED display. Voice commands are also an option.

Getting into and starting the Polestar 3 can be a bit different, too. I used a key card, which you hold by the door handle and then place in a specific spot on the center console. This SUV can deliver intense acceleration, so make sure that key card is secure. A digital key and key fob can also be used.

This speed-oriented Polestar 3 Dual Motor, with the Performance pack, offers a range of 279 miles on a full charge, per the Environmental Protection Agency. Those miles melt away quickly in the SUV’s high-performance mode.

The stereo system is a highlight, as it features the Abbey Road Studios Mode, which is available with the optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system. The mode is inspired by the iconic London recording studio, simulating the listening experience from the control room or the studio floor.

This dual motor version provides a sporty driving experience, with power distributed to all four wheels. The SUV also comes with an adaptive suspension, making it comfortable on long drives and dynamic on twisty roads.

Polestar was not featured in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, but close relative Volvo placed below the study average. Fortunately, the basic warranty lasts four years or 50,000 miles.

Back inside, this Polestar 3 features incredibly soft seats that are supportive during cornering, as well as gold seat belts and a panoramic glass roof. There are heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and even heated wiper blades.

While simpler versions of the Polestar 3 can be had for around $60,000 at the moment, this exact one comes to $93,100, including shipping, thanks to the Pilot, Plus and Performance packs. Whether it’s worth that price will depend on what you’re looking for in an electric SUV.
