Car Review: Hyundai Santa Fe doesn’t break the bank with Calligraphy trim level

Finding the right crossover can be tough work. Some are too small. Some are just too big for everyone. Hyundai retooled the Santa Fe a few years back to bridge the small and mid-size crossover class.

The Santa Fe gets a new face this year that sports a large grill, flanked by new LED lighting clusters that give the Hyundai a unique look.

This Santa Fe Calligraphy model is a new, upscale version. It has special 19-inch wheels and satin chrome trim works to dress up this crossover without being over the top with bling. Even out back, there are LED taillights that catch your eye with the added style.

Under the hood sees a big update with a new turbo engine for some Santa Fe models. This new power plant packs 277hp, easily moving the crossover with gusto.

The HTRAC AWD is standard on the upper Calligraphy trim level and optional on other models. The Santa Fe was an easy commuter and road trip vehicle, but it does not want to be pushed on back roads thanks to the softer suspension.

A luxurious interior moves this Santa Fe Calligraphy to the next level. Nappa perforated leather seats look like they came from a luxury Genesis vehicle. The headliner has soft suede-like material that looks better than the normal materials you find in most rides. A new push-button transmission frees up space on the center console.

The tech features a large, 10.25-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a clean sounding Harman Kardon premium audio system.
