Car Review: Audi RS 7 is bad to the bone

This 2025 Audi RS 7 performance is simply bad, as in to the bone.

This big, long, four-door hatchback features the nasty snarl of a twin-turbo V-8, with the help of a $1,000 sport exhaust system. This is what Audi calls “an even more thrilling version of the A7 Sportback,” which promises “visceral performance.” Facts.

Basically, you hit the gas pedal, wait a few milliseconds and lift off as those turbos whir to life and rocket you forward.

Adding to the menacing look of this Daytona Gray Pearl-painted RS 7 is a Black Optic Package that includes black badges, mirrors and exterior trim.

This RS 7 also features basically the biggest brakes I’ve ever seen. They’re like large pizzas hiding behind the wheels and they’re part of an $8,500 ceramic brake upgrade option.

Don’t think you’re giving up any luxury, though. Inside, there’s an expanse of black leather and Alcantara. The RS 7 also has “soft close” doors that shut themselves when left slightly open, and the rear hatch is powered. Cargo space is generous, too.

This one got plenty of attention at Cars and Coffee, and another RS 7 even found its way to me.

At the same time, I found myself banging my leg on the side of this low-slung car as I got in and out. The frameless windows seem like good candidates for rattling later in life.

There’s no spare tire and, as I’ve mentioned before, Audi is one of the brands for which an extended warranty would be wise.

The price of this do-it-all machine: $164,540 after shipping, in this exact case.

A 2026 RS 7 performance starts at $133,995 after shipping.
