WASHINGTON — It’s no secret that D.C. is home to a number of great restaurants, and a new ranking from TripAdvisor gives a wink to a local favorite.
Rasika, the modern Indian restaurant from the James Beard Award-winning chef Vikram Sunderam, landed in spot 25 on TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice list of the best fine dining restaurants in the U.S.
The travel-booking website says it used an algorithm that considered the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world over a 12-month period.
Others on the list include Alinea, Per Se, Le Bernardin and The French Laundry — all of which are three-star Michelin restaurants.
Rasika has long been a favorite among local diners and critics. Yet despite earning four stars from The Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema, the restaurant was not awarded a star in D.C.’s inaugural Michelin Guide.
In 2012, Rasika opened a second location in D.C.’s West End neighborhood to help accommodate demand.
In 2016, Sunderam and his team launched the street food-inspired eatery Bindaas in Cleveland Park.
