D.C. makes list of top craft beer-loving cities

WASHINGTON — It’s no secret that D.C. locals love their brews. But a recent MarketWatch article puts Washington, D.C. among the top 10 craft beer-loving cities in America.

It’s been a good couple of years for American craft brew afficionados. The country has gained about 700 breweries in the past two years, and an additional 1,755 breweries are still in the planning stages, the same MarketWatch article reports.

D.C. wasn’t always a brew-friendly city. Maryland and Virginia supplied the “local” beers until DC Brau’s arrival in 2009. Until that point, the District was without a hometown packaging brewery.

Today, craft beer seekers have plenty of options for truly local pints. Here’s a quick list of potential places to check out, just in time for D.C. Beer Week.
