Va. coach charged with sending sexually explicit messages to a minor

WASHINGTON — A sports coach from Virginia is under arrest after police said he sent sexually explicit messages over social media to a minor.

Joshua Schroeder, 26, was arrested by the Fairfax County police Saturday morning in Chantilly. The messages which were reported to a school resource officer on Feb. 5.

“Detectives conducted an investigation and determined that Joshua Schroeder was inappropriately communicating with a minor,” said Officer Tara Gerhard.

The police department said it isn’t revealing the school where the report was taken, in order to protect the minor’s identity.

Schroeder was the general manager at the Sport and Speed Institute, on Sullyfield Circle, in Chantilly, where he also served as a trainer of athletes.

Schroeder was charged with three counts of solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Investigators are asking parents who believe their child had inappropriate contact with Schroeder to call the Fairfax County police at 703-246-7800.
