Shot fired into Fairfax Co. day care

WASHINGTON — A shot was fired into a Fairfax County day care center Thursday afternoon, and police are investigating who was involved.

The shots were fired through the window of a day care center in the 5200 block of Leesburg Pike around 2:30 p.m. There were no injuries to the eight 3-year-old children or two adults in the facility at the time.

Officers searcher each floor of the mostly vacant building, and didn’t find any other injuries.

Police are still looking into if there was an intended victim in the shooting, and are asking anyone who might’ve seen something to call them at 703-691-2131.

“Police are still in the process of investigating and canvassing the neighborhood for more information,” said Don Gotthardt with Fairfax County police.
