WASHINGTON — Tattooed computer hacker Lisbeth Salander has captured the imaginations of book and movies lovers around the world.
Now, we’ve learned the new book in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series, “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” will arrive on Sept. 1 in the U.S.
The setting will include Silicon Valley and the characters will include a member of the N.S.A., according to The Wall Street Journal.
It will be the first book not written by Larsson, who died of a heart attack in 2004 at age 50. The new book will be written by Swedish author and former crime journalist David Lagercrantz, who was selected by the Larsson estate to continue the series.
“The Girl in the Spider’s Web” follows “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Girl Who Played with Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.”
The first book inspired two movies: the 2009 Swedish original starring Noomi Rapace and the 2011 Hollywood remake starring Rooney Mara. A sequel was planned for 2013, but has since been delayed. Mara recently told E! that she now doubts it’s going to happen.
