DC police investigating body found in Potomac River

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating a body found floating in the Potomac River in Georgetown.

It happened around 7 a.m. Wednesday. A boater called the police about a body that was floating near Three Sisters Island and the Francis Scott Key Bridge, down river from Fletcher’s Boathouse.

A man was recovered from the water with a gash on his forehead and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking into the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
