WASHINGTON — A suspect is in custody and a man and a 4-year-old boy were taken to a hospital after a shooting Monday evening in Northeast D.C.
The D.C. police said two people were shot around 6:15 p.m. on 18th Place in Northeast, at M Street, just east of Bladensburg Road.
One of the victims is a 4-year-old boy who was shot in the abdomen, WTOP’s TV news partner NBC Washington reports. A good Samaritan rushed the boy to the hospital, NBC Washington adds.
The two victims’ injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
A witness told the police that they saw a maroon Jeep drive by, and saw shots fired from inside it. The witness then saw the Jeep in the parking lot of Eddie’s, a restaurant about a half-mile away on Bladensburg Road.
Video footage then showed the suspect, Kenneth Warren Morris III, 23, walking from there to a nearby gas station and dropping a ski mask in the garbage can there. Officers found Jackson running north on Bladensburg Road. He was arrested and charged with assault with intent to kill.
